    Adaptive cruise control default distance:

    In cars with adaptive cruise control the default distance (1 to 4) can be changed from the CAR menu. If this menu option is hidden in you car, apparently you can enable it with VAG-COM. From the Auto distance regulation module 13, Adaptation, Channel 7, change 0 to 1, Save. Thanks must also go to Ville_K for this and confirmation of other information here

    Enabling/disabling doors locked/alarm armed sound:

    It is possible to enable the beep the car makes when locking doors in European models and likely to disable the beep in U.S. models that beep by default (and vice-versa of course). Just make sure you have the latest VCDS/VAG-COM updates installed and check/uncheck the checkbox Anti-Theft-System: Horn Confirmation active in 46 Central Conv., Long Coding, Byte 01, Bit 2. This may require that factory alarm is installed on the car.

    You can also enable a dual opening beep by changing the value on adapter channel 63 (in module 46) from 40 to 44 (or, judging by the link/info in the next text, adding 4 to whatever value you have there). (Old text about this: According to an unconfirmed post at motor-talk.de (http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/codierungen-hier-sammeln-t1963013.html?page=57), one can also enable opening dual beeps in addition to a closing beep. The instructions are: "Komfortsystem (Adresse 46) / Anpassung / Zentralverriegelung Funktionen -> zum eingetragenen Wert +4 addieren" which translates to "Comfort System (address 46) / adjust / add central functions -> to the registered value +4".)

    Adjust radio Chorus/Concert/Symphony stopping time:

    According to unconfirmed post at motor-talk.de, one can adjust this from module 56, adaptation channel 3, from 1 to 99 minutes.

    Change MMI 3G splashscreen:

    According to unconfirmed post at motor-talk.de (http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/codierungen-hier-sammeln-t1963013.html?page=52), go to MMI 3G hidden menu (see above how to enable it), car, carcodingvehicle, set the desired settings and press Update Splashscreen (according car line), then reset MMI.

    Coding after retrofitting Xenons in place of halogens:

    This is for A4 B8, unknown if completely same for A5/Q5, could be. TS-Tec posts quite useful coding changes for those looking into replacing halogen beams with Xenons (http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/codierungen-hier-sammeln-t1963013.html?page=69). See the link for details and a more readable format, but to summarize here is a translation of what he reports: In 09 - Central Elect. Byte 0 from #69 to #26 (Xenon installed), Byte 2 from #C0 to #D0 (DRL as LED tail lights and one stripe at DRL), Byte 3 from #A7 to #AF (LED-Stripes at Coming / Leaving Home), Byte 14 #5F to #5D (maybe necessary for the high beam switch), Byte 15 #5F to #5D (maybe necessary for the high beam switch). Cars with beam assistant: In 20 - Beam Assistant Byte 0 of #01 to #02. Note that these are byte values, not individual bits. He also mentions: "BCM1 Byte 6 Bit 3 means LED at CH/LH", CH/LH = Coming Home / Leaving Home.

    Daytime running lights behaviour:

    Daytime running lights (DRLs) behave differently in different markets, for example the front LED light strips that accompany Xenon lights turn off or dim in some markets when blinking/signalling. Aerodave on A5OC.com has researched this and posted his experiences here: http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthread.php/have-solved-drl-2468/index.html. In short, he reports that changing Central Electronics 09, Submodule 0 (Master Cent. Elec. box, rather than a slave module), Byte 3 (fourth from the left), Bit 7 (first bit from the left in the binary representation, bottom check box in the VAG-COM long coding helper) is the key. If set to 1, setting it to 0 makes the DRLs stay on when signalling. Thanks to Aerodave and please see the full thread for more!

    Aerodave - thanks! - sent this great list of additional bits you can toggle and turn to change the DRL behaviour.

    For submodule 0:

    Byte 02
    bit 0 -
    bit 1 - front side markers as DRL
    bit 2 - headlights as DRL
    bit 3 - fog lights as DRL
    bit 4 - LED strip as DRL
    bit 5 -
    bit 6 - side markers as DRL
    bit 7 - tail lights as DRL

    Byte 03
    bit 0 -
    bit 1 -
    bit 2 - LEDs remain at full brightness with parking lights
    bit 3 -
    bit 4 - Turns off DRLs when checked
    bit 5 -
    bit 6 -
    bit 7 - Turn off LED-strip DRL with turn signal (dim LED if front side marker also selected as DRL)

    Byte 10
    bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable amber side markers (U.S. vehicles)
    ________________________________________

    To disable the "one more wipe after some time" function in the window washer:

    In module 09, coding, wiper control sub-module (WWS), long coding wizard, change byte 1, bit 3.

    Enable TPMS:

    The ABS unit exist in two versions (which can be found on a label in the service book or in the trunk where the spare wheel is located)
    • 1AT - ESP ready for TMPS
    • 1AS - ESP not ready for TPMS
    The pattern seen until now, shows that 1AS won't work.

    Known to work on ABS units:
    Part No: 8K0 907 379 AH
    Component: ESP8 quattro H04 0230

    Part No: 8K0 907 379 S
    Component: ESP8 quattro H04 0210

    Part No: 8K0 907 379 R
    Component: ESP8 front H04 0210

    Part No: 8K0 907 379 AQ
    Component: ESP8 front H03 0210
    The retrofit:

    Enable the TPMS MMI item (the menu item will be grayed out - disabled):

    MMI high (MMI 2G):
    Quote:
    [07 - Control Head]
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 01
    add 16 to the existing value

    tpms1.jpg

    MMI Plus (MMI 3G):
    Quote:
    [5F - Information Electr.]
    Not know yet how to enable the TPMS menu item with VCDS....

    BUT can be enabled through the "hidden menu":
    - select 'RDK' in 'car/cardevicelist'
    - put 'Tires Air Pressure Control' on 5 in 'car/carmenuoperations'
    MMI basic (non-MMI - 2G) (symphony/concert radio):
    Quote:
    [56 - Radio]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8

    Bit 6 - TPMS Settings active
    MMI need to be restarted.
    reset mmi.jpg

    Then enable the 'connection' between ABS/ESP and the TPMS MMI menu item (the menu item get activated), by setting:
    Quote:
    [03 - ABS Brakes]
    [Security Access - 16] (probably with login code: 61378)
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1

    Bit 3 - Tire Pressure Monitoring (PR-7K6) active (1 = active)

    tpms2.jpg

    Then the TPMS need to be enabled in the Instrument Cluster:
    Quote:
    [17 - Instruments]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 4

    Bit 0 - Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) installed (1 = active)

    The TPMS MMI menu then look like this:
    tpms3.jpg

    After the 'teach-in process', I lowered the tyre pressure twice - first by 0.2 bar, and then by another 0.2 bar (it is not a real life scenario, but it was working) - I drove 10 to 15 km on a motorway, no error with the first 0.2 bar, but with the second I got this warning in my DIS almost right away after about 3 km:
    tpms4.jpg

    The message "Please check tyre pressure (xxxx)" will flash a couple of times together with a warning sound - after that only the small tyre symbol on the top will be shown, and it will continue to flash, until the system has been reset (tyre pressure fault has been solved).

    The teach-in process:
    The teach-in process is performed once after the SET key is pressed for the low tyre pressure indicator.
    During the next trip, the control unit saves the measured wheel speeds and the vibration characteristics of the wheels in various vehicle operating states. The vehicle operating states are basically defined by the following parameters: vehicle speed, steering angle, transverse acceleration and yaw velocity. These teach-in values subsequently make up the target data which is used for monitoring.
    After approximately 10 minutes of driving, it is already possible to detect a breakdown (rapid loss of pressure). Approximately 60 minutes of driving are required to detect diffusion loss (slow loss of pressure).
    The following displays are possible:
    • In the event of a rapid loss of pressure at a single wheel (tyre damage), the red warning lamp is activated. If the vehicle a driver information system, an additional text display appears indicating the position of the wheel affected.
    • In case of slow loss of pressure, which occurs gradually at multiple wheels due to diffusion, the red warning lamp is also activated. In this case, the optional text display appears but no positional information is given. The displays are activated when the tyre pressure drops below an a coded minimum value.
    • When system faults are detected, the yellow warning lamp is activated.

    Battery and oil level for radio Chorus/Concert/Symphony:

    B8_Jim reports at http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?278256-Cool-VAG-COM-codes/page12 that by going to 56 - Radio, Adaptation, Car menu Options 1 add +16 to the value there to enable battery level in the CAR menu. He also suggests to try the value 65535 for all options in the menu, including oil level if your hardware supports it.

    Lightning menu
    1. MMI high (2G):
    Code:
    Enable the Interior lighting (extended) MMI item:
    [07 - Control Head]
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 1
    add 2 to the existing value
    MMI Plus (3G):
    Code:
    [5F - Information Electr.]
    Not know yet how to enable the Interior lighting menu item with VCDS....

    BUT can be enabled through the "hidden menu":
    - select 'Interior Light' in 'car/cardevicelist'
    - put 'Interior light' on 1 in 'car/carmenuoperations'
    MMI basic (non-MMI - 2G) (symphony/concert radio):
    Code:
    [56 - Radio]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8

    Bit 7 - Interior Light Settings active - (1 = active)
    Then enable the 'connection' between Cent. Elect and the Interior light MMI menu item (the same on all systems):
    Code:
    [09 – Cent. Elect.]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 16

    Bit 6 - Set this bit manually to “1” - (1 = active)
    If the menu item is still grayed out - then a restart of MMI is required now...

    1. Previously I posted that on module 9 Byte 4 Bit 0 would turn on your left hand fog light with headlights. I was wrong. What I discovered tonight was if you have this bit enabled and your headlights on BUT NOT your fog lights, it will fade in your left or right fog light then fade it off with your turn signal.

    So you put your right turn signal on, the right fog light fades on. When you turn the signal off it fades off. It's kind of neat. Of course you have to meet those exact requirements for it to work.

    Changing default Audi Drive Select mode:

    It has been reported (http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/endlich-codierungen-drive-select-t2593674.html and http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?349092-VCDS-coding-of-Audi-Drive-Select-default-setting) that by adjusting all these four adaptation channels, one can change the default Audi Drive Select mode from auto to any of the other three modes: 09 – Cent. Elect. - Security Access - 16 - Adaptation - 10 - Channels 63, 64, 65 and 66. Set the channels (all of them) to one of these numbers: 1 = Comfort, 2 = Auto (default), 3 = Dynamic, 4 = Individual. Thanks to schneidfried!

    Limited Audi Drive Select individual mode also for cars without Audi Drive Select:

    C99 reports at A5OC.com (http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthread.php/vag-com-change-10568/index.html) that even cars without Audi Drive Select buttons can be coded to adjust engine response and automatic gear-box, as well as Servotronic steering, like an ADS (without dynamic steering or dynamic dampening) would. (See also AudiZine.com: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...Audi-Individual-Drive-Select-VAGCOM&p=5020059) First 09 - Central Electric is coded to "Charisma engine only" byte 7, bit 5, change 0 to 1 (you may also have to change byte 7 bit 2 as well), byte 8, bit 2, change 0 to 1 and byte 17, bit 7, change 0 to 1. In byte 8 bit 3, 4 and 5 from 0 to 1 will respectively switch steering, suspension and sports differential modes on in addition to the engine mode, although the latter two modes are undoubtedly of no use without such hardware in the car. Byte 7, bit 4 is apparently for active steering, again probably of use only if such hardware is in the car. Then 09 - Central Electric, Security Access - 16, Adaptation - 10, change channels 63 to 66 to value 4 (individual mode). (See here for more discussion on these codes: http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthread.php/vag-com-change-10568/index2.html)

    Getting the Audi Drive Select individual option appear in CAR menu (MMI cars only) you may need to access the hidden menu to enable "Charisma" (the code-name for Audi Drive Select), see way above in this article on how to enable and access the hidden menu in MMI 2G and MMI 3G. MMI 2G: In hidden menu menu go to Diag settings, Car menus maske, check Charisma and go down to Accept changes. MMI 3G: In hidden menu, go to "car", select “cardevicelist”, scroll down and check Charisma. Go back, and still in the "car" hidden menu, select “carmenuoperation”. Scroll down to Charisma, change from 0 to 1. On both MMIs then reset the MMI. For cars without MMI (e.g. with radio Concert/Symphony) and thus without the Audi Drive Select individual menu it is probably worth trying setting Comfort or Dynamic modes directly (in the channels 63-66) using the VAG-COM coding above in "Changing default Audi Drive Select mode" to see if there is change in engine, steering and auto-transmission.

    This will allow you to change the intensity of the LED's when your headlights are on. By default the LED's are only 8-9% or brightness.

    Salut,

    Pentru activarea functiei cornering trebuie sa urmezi cu VCDS pasii de mai jos:
    [09 – Cent. Elect.] => [Coding - 07] => [Long Coding Helper] => Byte 4 Bit 0 Change 0 to 1
    Aceasta functie se activeaza numai pentru o viteza max. de aprox. 40 km/h

    Pentru aprinderea proiectorului dreapta sau stganga in functie de cum virezi sau semnalizezi, procedeaza in felul urmator:
    09 [Centr. Elect.] > 07 [Coding] > In Octetul 4 schimba bitul 0 din valoarea 0 in valoarea 1 (cred ca stii ca bitul 0 este primul din dreapta).
    Aceasta functie este valabila numai cand este aprinsa faza de intalnire (faza scurta), iar cand cuplezi in marsalier nu mai este activa.

    Salutare, pentru activarea functiei de cornering trebuie facuta setarea cu farurile aprinse sau este conditionata de o anumita optiune a masinii ?
    Multumesc

  5. ... Guest

    In timpul setarii functiei de cornering cu Vag-Com, nu este necesar ca farurile sa fie aprinse si nici nu depinde de o anumita optiune a masinii. Dupa activarea functiei cu Vag-Com, aceasta va fi activa numai daca faza scurta este aprinsa si pana la o anumita viteza (30-40 km/h... parca). Nu functioneaza la mersul inapoi.

    mi se pare aiurea aceasta functie deoarece nu functioneaza decat daca semnalizezi... si nu ca la passat in functie de pozitia volanului

    anarchy: Functioneaza si la rotirea volanului (dupa ce ai rotit minim 1/2 de tura);
    rominika: Am scris in postul #92 cum se procedeaza. Mai clar de atat nu cred ca se poate. :)

    n-am sesizat sa se aprinda proiectorul daca nu semnalizez...
    voi analiza acest aspect mai atent.

    Salutare,

    Am si eu o mica rugaminte sau mai exact cerinta: pe portiera soferului exista un buton care blocheza geamurile din spate si nu le mai poti actiona decat de la sofer.

    Exista vreo codare sa fie si cel din dreapta fata inclus (adica sa nu poata fi actionat decat de pe partea soferului) ?

    Ma refer la A4 B8.

    strumfy nu exista ! e doar blocare geamuri spate ! (child lock).
    fiind child lock => copilul nu are ce cauta pe locul din fata !

    stie cineva cum se fac urmatoarele ?

    - sa stingi complet ecranul e la navi cand conduci noapte la drum lunga, dar muzica sa ramana pornita in background

    - cand repornesti masina sa porneasca incalzirile in scaun pe 0 si nu pe ultima treapta folosita anterior

    - sa se incrementeze numarul de incercari de a deschide o usa blocata (momentan la a 2-a se deschide)

    Robytza ecranul se stinge din Mmi. Eu il sting in mod curent iar muzica ramane binenteles. Cu incalzirea in scaune nu am teatat inca. Cu geamurile si cu ploaia merge dar trebuie sa lasi stergatoarele mereu pe auto ca sa functioneze. Inclusiv cand incui masina. Ultima habar nu am ce intrebi

    Stie cineva cum pot modifica timpul de stingere al plafonierei cand contactul nu este pus(in pozitia accesorii).
    Mai clar deschid usa, intru in masina, inchid usa iar plafoniera se stinge dupa 10-20 secunde iar eu vreau sa micsorez acest timp.
    Cu motorul pornit sau contactul pus lumina se stinge odata cu inchiderea usii fara nici o intarziere.

    Stie cineva ce trebuie sa modific (pt A4 B8 sedane) sa mi se aprinda si stopurile de ceata cand se apasa frana? Vazusem la o Octavia si ma gandeam ca se poate si la Audi..
    Ma gandesc ca ar fi folositor si pentru ceilalti participanti la trafic..se vede mai bine!

    Si eventual daca stie cineva ce trebuie modificat pentru momentul in care ai aprinse proiectoarele si dai faza lunga sa se aprinda alternativ!
